Transport department turns smart as no paper-print licence will be distributed now onwards

L-R: Smart driving licence and old paper-print driving licence

Kathmandu, July 16

The Department of Transport Management has stopped distributing paper-print driving licences from today and launched the distribution of smart licences from all its offices across the country.

Now onwards, transport offices in all 14 zones will distribute smart licences only, says the Department Spokesperson Tok Raj Pandey.

“This is the end of paper-prince licence era,” he says, “Those applying for renewal of old licences will also get the smart ones.”

Meanwhile, the Department also resumed distribution of driving licences from some of its offices where the process was halted owing to different reasons.

“All transport offices will distribute smart licences from today,” he says.

Pandey also informs that the Department has also decided to issue permits to new vehicles also to ply existing public transportation routes after considering their applications.
