Finally, Bibeksheel and Sajha Party will announce unification Wednesday

L-R: Rabindra Mishra and Ujwal Thapa

Kathmandu, July 25

Bibeksheel Nepali Party and Sajha Party have said they will announce the unification between them on Wednesday afternoon.

The parties in a joint statement say a function will be organised in Naya Baneshwor of Kathmandu tomorrow to announce the merger.

It has been learned that they will go for a collective leadership till the unified party will hold a unity convention to elect the new leadership.

They will form a 51-member central committee, comprising 17 from Bibeksheel, 17 from Sajha and other 17 to be appointed Nepal.

The new party will be named either Bibeksheel Sajha Party or Sajha Bibeksheel Party as of developments taken place so far.

The two parties had tried unification before the first phase of local level elections in May as well. However, the attempt had failed after the parties had differences over who–either Rabindra Misha of Sajha or Ujwal Thapa of Bibeksheel–should lead the party.

Both the parties had received considerable votes in Kathmandu Valley in May local level elections. They, however, could not fare well in the second phase of polls held in June.

It has been learned that the unified party will also contest the third phase of polls to be held in eight Terai districts of Province 2 with a strengthened strategy.
