Oli discharged, to abstain from meetings and events for three months

Prime Minister KP Shar,a Oli is discharged from the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, in Kathmandu, on Friday, March 13, 2020.

Kathmandu, March 14

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who underwent the second kidney transplantation of his life in a Kathmandu hospital on March 4, has been discharged on Friday evening.

Dr Prem Krishna Khadga, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital’s executive director, says, “His health has improved significantly. Hence, we decided to discharge him.”

The doctors involved in his treatment were holding Oli’s hand as he headed towards his vehicle to go back to the official residence in Baluwatar yesterday evening. Before getting on the car, Oli smiled and waved at his fans and journalists in the same way that he did while getting admitted to the hospital on March 2.

The doctors have advised him to abstain from meeting people and attending public functions for at least the next three months so as to avoid any infection.

While Oli was recovering in the hospital after the surgery, he was restricted from meeting people and was allowed to meet only a few including his kidney donor, and his wife. He, however, was allowed to use phones and social media.

Oli will be in constant medical supervision in Baluwatar. Dr Divya Singh Shah, who heads the transplant department in the hospital, is Oli’s personal physician so she will be the in-charge of Oli’s medical followups.
