Sindhulimadi, September 11

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says he has found other parties using money, liquor and delicacies to influence voters ahead of the third phase of local level elections in Province 2, scheduled for next week.

“Old parties were found distributing a sari with Rs 1,000 cash to each woman,” Dahal said, “The election results hence cannot be predicted as they will be influenced by meats and liquors.”

That is why the Maoist party is not sure about the party’s position in the province, according to him. However, in overall, the party would not lag behind others, he claimed.

Dahal said he directed Home Minister Janardan Sharma to prevent incidents of booth capturing and other rigging in the polls this time as some areas bordering India had such incidents in the past.

In another context, he said the constitution would be fully implemented after provincial and federal elections in November and December.
