Kathmandu, August 13

Minister for Home Affairs Janardan Sharma has left Kathmandu to observe damages caused by floods and landslides in various parts of the country.

The Minister-led team flew to Nepalgunj on a Yeti Airlines aircraft this morning and plans to go to eastern Terai after observing the situation in west.

“If the weather is favourable, we will fly to east directly; otherwise, we will come back to Kathmandu and fly later,” the Minister’s aide, Santosh Paudel says.

Chiefs of security agencies, lawmakers and local leaders as well as top government officials have accompanied the Minister for the observation trip.

After floods and landslides killed dozens in various parts of Nepal since Saturday morning, the government is under an intense pressure to expedite rescue and relief efforts.
