Ex gratia to families of those deceased in foreign land increased to Rs 7 lakh

Kathmandu, July 12

The government has increased the ex gratia to the families of Nepalis deceased in foreign land to Rs 700,000 from Rs 300,000.

The Cabinet has already made a decision to this effect and it will come into effect after its publication in the gazette, says Foreign Employment Promotion Board’s Executive Director Raghuraj Kafle.

Kafle says the decision will be published in the gazette within this week.

Following the decision, the families will get more than Rs 2 million including the the money received as insurance. Currently, the families are getting around Rs 1.3 to Rs 1.4 million from insurance companies.

The then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had announced the increment around 10 months ago.
