Kathmandu, July 31

Nepali youth aspiring to go to and work in South Korea under the Employment Permit System have to pass both language and skill tests before flying to their destination from 2020.

Though the Korean government wanted to implement the new system from 2019, the process has been delayed by a year owing to lack of preparations on the Nepali side.

Currently, the EPS candidates have pass the language test only, but do not need to take any test to prove their capacity in the skills they have claimed to possess.

After the introduction of new system, their work experiences will also be counted.  It will also require the candidates to take language tests online.

Korea had introduced the EPS in Nepal in 2007.

South Korea recruits workers under this system from 16 countries. Most of those countries have already adopted the double test system.
