The CPN-Maoist Centre has decided to dissolve its Central General Convention Organising Committee, which had been acting as the central committee.
There were more than 2,000 members in the committee formed after unification of nearly a dozen Maoist parties and outfits last year.
A party’s Central Secretariat meeting concluded on Saturday made a decision to restrict the size of central committee to two figures, says the Secretariat member Basanta Gharti.
The decision, however, will not be immediately implemented. A national assembly will be held to form the 99-member central committee after local level elections in Province 2 scheduled for September 18.
Meanwhile, the party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is holding a press meeting to announce the meeting decisions today.
