4 shops of branded goods in Durbarmarg sealed for cheating customers

A shop is sealed after it was found cheating customers, in Durbarmarg, on Monday, September 4, 2017.

Kathmandu, September 4

A market monitoring team on Monday sealed four shops of branded luxury items in Durbarmarg of Kathmandu for cheating customers to make profits of as much as 2,300 per cent.

The monitoring team deployed from the Ministry of Supplies and Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interests found that the shops were earning profits from 900 to 2,300 per cent, says Supplies Minister Shiva Kumar Mandal.

Mandal himself had led the monitoring.

Nepal’s marketing law allows traders to earn 20 per cent profit at the maximum.

During the monitoring, the team had sought bills for the transactions and the shops were sealed upon failure to produce them.

Meanwhile, Minister Mandal says the black marketeers will be punished as per the law.
