Third one-horned rhino, washed away in floods, rescued from India

Chitwan, August 22

A rare one-horned rhino swept away across the border to India in a recent flood has been rescued unharmed.

The adult rhino was rescued from Balmiki town of India and brought home to Chitwan National Park (CNP) and taken to the eastern sector of the national park this morning, according to CNP East Sector Chief and Assistant Conservation Officer Abhiyan Pathak.

The rhino was darted and taken under control.

This is the third rhino to be rescued from India recently.

A technical team has already been dispatched to rescue a baby rhino which was also swept away in the flood, CNP Information Officer Nurendra Aryal shared.
