Sitaula complains govt gave more facilities to ex-king than ex-president

Kathmandu, May 30

Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula has accused the government of giving more facilities to former King Gyanendra Shah than the first President of the country, Ram Baran Yadav.

The leader says it is inappropriate because Yadav should be given a due respect as he is the first head of the state of republican Nepal.

“Ram Baranji is also a former head of the state. I have not seen any logic in giving more facilities to former King Gyanenda than him,” he says in a video interview with Onlinekhabar on the occasion of Republic Day on Wednesday.

“Of course, we have to give him security. But, the government should consider which level.”

Sitauala also expressed his dissatisfaction that administration and police officials based in various districts worked hard to please the former king whenever he visits the places.

In another context, Sitaula questioned why  Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa failed to arrest and take action against Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’, a leader of the banned Maoist group, though he knew the group already formed a military organisation.
