Kathmandu, August 14

Former King Gyanendra Shah says he is sad to know about the loss of lives and property in recent floods and landslides in various parts of the country. He says he prays to the god that the victims will be able to face the disasters.

In a statement issued by his secretariat, the former monarch has also urged the government and other stakeholders to expedite rescue and relief efforts.

“He has believed that concerned stakeholders will show promptness to control the disaster by providing rescue and relief at this moment of crisis,” the statement reads.

Though Shah has not announced any programme to provide relief support to the victims, his personal aide Phani Pathak says Himani Trust, a social organisation established after the name of former crown princess Himani Shah, will launch a relief campaign soon.
