Kathmandu, November 11
Province 1 Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai says he is not involved in a reported assault on a Nepali journalist in the United States for allegedly publishing a news report about the leader’s US trip.
Rai told journalists on Saturday morning that he was sad about the attack on Lok Mani Rai in Baltimore. “But, we have been forcefully dragged into the incident. I am shocked,” Rai told journalists before returning to Bangkok.
The leader said he did not know journalist Rai personally, neither did he have any idea about the news story he published.
Rai, on the occasion, clarified that he was in the Thai capital for health checkups and he went to the US for private meetings as he had to go to Bangkok after one week again.
Earlier, some media had reported that the Chief Minister flew to the States though the provincial government had approved his Bangkok visit only.
Meanwhile, Umesh Rai, who reportedly attacked journalist Rai, clarified that the duo fought over a personal issue and it was not related to CM Rai.
