Redmi 10A in Nepal: Nothing new yet follows a ‘good’ tradition in the budget range

Redmi 10A has been officially released in Nepal. This is yet another budget smartphone from the company and is one of the many models of the Redmi 10 series. Redmi 10 series is the budget series from Xiaomi and is one of the most popular smartphone series in the country. Usually known for providing good features at an affordable price, Redmi 10A too follow the tradition.

The phone offers a decent display and has dual biometrics for security. There is a decent chipset powering the phone and has a dependable battery backup. Well, the camera features may not be great, but this is only a budget phone.

Redmi 10A comes with a fresh design. The phone has a glass front, a plastic back and a plastic frame build. The back of the phone has a textured design, which Xiaomi marketed as smudge-free and provides a comfortable grip. The back panel has a similar camera panel seen on Redmi 10 launched here about two months ago. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone.

The phone is 194 grams in weight and measures around 9 mm in thickness. It is available in charcoal black, sea blue and slate grey colour options.

On the front of the Redmi 10A is a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display offering a resolution of 720*1,600 pixels and 269 PPI density. With a 60Hz refresh rate, the phone can achieve a peak brightness of up to 400 nits, which may not be so helpful during daytime use.

Nothing much on the camera side… Redmi 10A only has a single camera both on the back and on the front side. On the back is a 13MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and an auto-focus feature. Meanwhile, on the front is a 5MP selfie shooter that resides inside the waterdrop notch and has an HDR feature.

The cameras can record videos in 1080p resolution at 30 fps.

Redmi 10A runs on MIUI 12.5, which is based on Android 11. The phone is powered by MediaTek Helio G25 (12 nm) chipset while the graphical duties are handled by PowerVR GE8320. This is a good chipset for an entry-level smartphone.

Storage options on the phone include 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. There is an option of expanding the memory with a microSD card.

Redmi 10A has a 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery. There is no fast charging option on the phone. The battery gets charged through a 10W charger. The battery should provide enough power to last for a few days under normal use.

The phone supports dual sims with 4G network connectivity. The phone does not support dual-band wifi, but it makes very less difference to the users. Similarly, the phone uses Bluetooth 5 for wirelessly pairing with other devices while using a micro-USB 2.0 cable for charging and wired connectivity. As for the audio, the phone offers a loudspeaker as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
