Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G has been officially launched in Nepal recently.
Realme, one of the fastest-growing smartphone companies in Nepal and worldwide, has been actively releasing multiple lineups of smartphones lately. Realme is trying to release smartphones in almost every category as much as possible. Most of the smartphones released by Realme last year fared quite good in the market. Their premium mid-range Realme GT Neo 2 was one of the most popular releases last year.
Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G is the continuation of the Realme series and is the best model of the Realme 9 series in Nepal. Another model of the same series, Realme 9i, was released not long ago. There are huge upgrades on the latest release when compared to Realme 9i.

Design and display
Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G features a glass back, glass front and a plastic frame built with round corners. The back panel on this phone is really exciting as it features a light shift design. The back panel on the sunrise blue variant changes colour from light blue to red when exposed to sunlight. The back also features a beautiful shining texture and in the middle are tiny glitters which Realme says represent stars in the galaxy and is pleasing to the eyes. Furthermore, there is a camera module as well and Realme branding at the bottom left which looks neat.
The phone weighs lightly at 182 grams and is 7.99mm in thickness. There is no official IP certification on the phone.
On the front is a 6.40-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels. With over 90% of screen-to-body ratio, the phone offers an immersive viewing experience to the users. The display also supports a 90Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. Realme 9 Pro+ has a Gorilla Glass 5 protection on its display while it can achieve a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits.
Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G features an under-display fingerprint sensor which also works as a heart rate sensor. The heart rate sensor on the device provides heart rate detection and recording services for users, and comes with eight different scene labels – general, working, exercise, resting, excited, stressed, full of energy, and sleepless – enabling users to keep track of their heart rate at all times.
Cameras
Along with the design, the camera is the most hyped feature on Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G. There is a triple camera setup on the back and a standard single selfie shooter on the front. The 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera on the back is accompanied by an 8MP, 119 degrees FOV ultrawide and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP camera with an aperture of f/2.4.
There are numerous camera features on the phone for the users to experiment with. One can get camera features such as 50MP mode, ultra steady video, night mode, timelapse, HDR ultra-wide, ultra macro, bokeh effect control, movie, dual-view video, starry mode, tilt-shift, street mode and long exposure among others.
Furthermore, it also has features to improve the photography and videography mode. The AI Noise Reduction Engine 3. 0 is said to reduce the noise in the photos by 30%, resulting in sharper images. The ProLight Imaging technology on the phone has been paired with the flagship Sony IMX766 imaging sensor, resulting in excellent light intake. Then, optical image stabilisation helps reduce blur and advanced AI features such as AI Noise Reduction Engine 3.0, ensuring the final images look crisper and sharp even with low-light exposure.
The cameras in Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G provide decent photographs during the daytime as well as in the low lights. There are some really interesting features on the camera that can get the users hooked up for hours. The street mode allows the users to take some interesting pictures which previously was possible through professional mode only. There is also the presence of dual-stabilisation on the camera of Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G. Optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS), should offer an enhanced photography and videography experience to the users.
The main camera can record videos in 4K resolution but is limited to only 30 fps, while it can record 1080p resolution videos up to 480fps. Meanwhile, the front camera can only record videos in 1080p resolution.

Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G runs on Realme UI 3.0 based on the latest Android 12. The phone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 920 5G (6nm) chipset while the graphics are handled by Arm Mali-G68 MC4. The 6nm chipset on the phone is integrated with a 5G modem. This feature should provide decent performance for the users.
The gaming performance of the phone is satisfactory as well. Popular games like PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile can be played in HDR graphics with an ultra frame rate. The gameplay is also smooth without any jitters or any performance issues.
There is also a five-layer cooling system on the phone. Realme claims it has one of the largest vapour chambers in the industry which covers 100% of heat source components and can reduce the core temperature by up to 10 degrees Celcius.
For the storage, Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G comes in a single 128GB internal storage variant, which is coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. The phone offers dynamic RAM expansion and the users can expand the RAM storage up to 13GB.
Battery life, connectivity and others
There is a 4,500mAh non-removable li-po battery on Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G. The battery can be charged up to 50% in just 15 minutes and up to 100% in just 44 minutes through the 60W SuperDart charge support. This is a great feature in this segment. Users can really benefit from the fast charging feature and do not have to worry about the battery power.
Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G supports a dual 5G network, Wi-Fi 6 and dual-band GPS. For wireless connectivity, the phone supports Bluetooth 5.2 and it uses USB Type-C 2.0 for charging and wired connectivity.

Verdict
In this price range, the Realme 9 Pro Plus 5G is probably one of the best smartphones available in the market. It has an eye-catching design, is portable, has a superb day and night camera performance with interesting features, a smooth UI and a good battery backup with super-fast charging. Not to forget, it also features one of the largest vapour chambers in the industry, which covers 100% of heat source components.
Though focused on photography, the gaming performance of the phone also will not let you down. The powerful Dimensity 920 chipset is able to provide a decent gaming performance for the users. Also, the stereo speakers are really good and the phone comes with the latest Android 12.
There are very few setbacks on the phone. The phone does not have any IP certification, and there is no option for expansion of the memory externally. The price range it is being offered in can also put the buyers in dilemma as the latest release from Samsung and Xiaomi have a greater brand value than Realme. Nonetheless, it is one of the best smartphones in this price category.
