Kathmandu, December 31
Nepal Police SP Dilli Raj Bista, the then chief of the Kanchanpur District Police Office, has been reinstated by the government.
Bista was fired from the job after some reports claimed he destroyed the evidence for the notorious Nirmala Pant rape and murder in 2018. The District Court, however, acquitted him and seven other cops of the charge in July this year.
Other seven have already rejoined their jobs as they were not fired, but only suspended.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to reinstate Bista, according to a minister.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to find out the motive and culprits behind the Pant rape and murder.
