Kathmandu, June 29
Two people have been injured as Maoists clashed with UML supporters in Western Nepal as polls closed on Wednesday night in the second round of civic elections.
In Argakhanchi’s Malarani Rural Municipality-3, UML cadres attacked Maoist student leader Nrayan Khanal, who sustained grave injuries. He has been brought to Kathmandu on a Nepali Army helicopter for treatment. Khanal is learnt to have sustained injuries to the head and different parts of the body.
Similarly, in Dang’s Lamahi, UML’s local cadres attacked Maoists at around 9 pm, injuring Maoist cadre Subas Chaudhary. According to local reports, the incident took place over a dispute during polling. He is receiving treatment in Lamahi.
