Kathmandu University Model United Nations (KUMUN), organised by the Kathmandu University begin from today at the Dhulikhel campus. This three-day academic simulation of the United Nations will convene more than 250 delegates and engage over 5,000 students, faculty, and online participants in debates, negotiations, and policymaking exercises that mirror real-world diplomacy.
According to the organisers, KUMUN 2025 is designed to nurture youth leadership, critical thinking, and cross-cultural dialogue.
Delegates will participate in committee simulations, leadership workshops, cultural exchanges, and networking sessions, developing essential skills in public speaking, negotiation, and strategic collaboration. KUMUN 2025 will combine global relevance with local authenticity.
The three-day event will begin with an inaugural ceremony on Day 1, featuring distinguished guests and university officials, followed by the first round of committee debates. Day 2 will focus on intensive committee sessions where delegates engage in debates, negotiations, and resolution drafting, closely simulating UN procedures. On Day 3, the conference will conclude with a closing ceremony honoring the Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate, and Best Position Paper, after which Kathmandu University will host its first-ever Diversity Day—a lively celebration showcasing Nepal’s cultural richness and commitment to inclusivity. The event is organized by Youth for Change – Kathmandu University (YFC-KU), a student-led, non-political club dedicated to social change, sustainability, and community development, along with Kathmandu University Leadership and Professional Development (KU-LPD), a platform that fosters leadership and professional growth through mentorship, training, and networking.
