Kathmandu, February 26
The Election Commission has decided to allow both domestic and international flights to operate as usual on the day of the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5).
The Election Commission made several decisions regarding election security and facilitation of the voting process. As part of these decisions, the Commission has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs, requesting it to create an environment for the continued operation of flights on election day. Accordingly, both domestic and international flights will operate regularly on the day of voting.
The Commission has also asked the Home Ministry to make arrangements allowing passengers holding domestic and international flight tickets to travel between the airport and their homes or hotels, and from their place of stay to the airport, using private vehicles or transportation provided by the respective airlines.
In previous elections, domestic flights were typically suspended on election day. In line with that practice, the Nepal Tourism Board had also issued a travel advisory.
