The Department of Transport Management has halted the distribution of driving licence from Kathmandu for next 15 days citing many staff will be deployed to various districts for the second phase of local level elections scheduled for June 28.

Now, the Department will resume the service only on July 5.

Meanwhile, the Department says it will prepare for online application service in this period.

“Now, we have halted the licence distribution,” DoTM Director General Rup Narayan Bhattarai says, “We will launch online application service after technical preparations in this period.”

Bhattarai says online application will be made mandatory for all applicants.

After the launch of the service, the service seekers will not have to stay in long queues to apply for licences.
