Chudamani Sharma produced before Special Court
Kathmandu, June 4
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Sunday produced Inland Revenue Department chief Chudamani Sharma, who was arrested on Friday, before the Special Court seeking remand.
Speaking with media on the court premises, Sharma said his arrest was a disrespect to the Parliament and the government, claiming the Tax Settlement Commission, which he was also a part of, had performed its duties in compliance with the law.
The anti-corruption constitutional body has charged him of corruption by involving in tax evasion while being in the TSC.
The CIAA had arrested him from his own office claiming he could distort evidence required for investigations being carried out against him if let him continue working freely.
