Bhaktapur administration office issues warrant for Durga Prasain’s arrest

Kathmandu, January 16

The Bhaktapur District Administration Office on Thursday issued a warrant, allowing police to arrest controversial businessperson and the owner of Jhapa-based B&C Medical College, Durga Prasain.

After Prasain accused Medical Education Commission vice-chairman Shree Krishna Giri of bribery, Giri had filed a case at the DAO claiming Prasain defamed him. Following the warrant, police went to his house in Bhaktapur. But, Prasain had already run away.

Meanwhile, police in his home district Jhapa also launched a search to nab him. He is yet to be arrested.

Earlier this week, Prasain had filed a corruption case against Giri, warning he would move court against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority failed to settle it.
