Lalita Niwas land case: Arrest warrant against 406 people including 4 former secretaries

Arrest warrants have been issued against 406 people including four ex-secretaries for their involvement in the Lalita Niwas land case in Baluwatar.

An arrest warrant has been issued against former secretaries Deep Basnyat, Chabi Raj Pant, Dinesh Hari Adhikari and Narayan Gopal Malego.

Deep Basnyat, former chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), is absconding.

According to a police officer, arrest warrants have been obtained from the court against 406 people, including former secretaries, in the Lalita Niwas land case. Some of them have been taken into custody and the investigation has been started, while the search for others is continuing, police said.

The police are investigating four cases in the land embezzlement case of 112 ropani (around 15 acres of land).

During the investigation, the police have detained Sudhir Shah, who is also the former commissioner of the Election Commission; Min Bahadur Gurung, the owner of Bhatbhateni Supermarket; Dharma Prasad Gautam, the former head of the Land Revenue Office, Dillibazar, and others.

The then joint secretary Kaladhar Deuja was released by the police after he signed a document that he would be present when called.
