Kathmandu, July 21
Nepali U-19 cricketers avoided defeat at the hands of hosts Singapore in the ICC youth World Cup Qualifiers, Asia, being played in the island nation.
Nepal were favourites going into the match, and were expected to post a big target for the home side. However, Nepal could only manage 168 runs before losing all their wickets in 46.5 overs.
At one point in the run chase, the home side had already posted 139 runs in 43 overs, and were poised to win the match. However the side lost the other half of their batsmen, who just added seven runs to the total. Nepal’s skipper Sandeep Lamichhane claimed four wickets.
Nepal now play Malaysia and Afghanistan next week.
