Winter session of parliament likely to convene in late January

Kathmandu, January 1

The government is preparing to convene the winter session of Parliament in the second week of January.

“The session is likely to be called around January 9,” a minister said. According to the minister, the session could either commence in late January or early February, depending on the schedule.

Leaders of the ruling parties have stated that the session is being convened with a focus on advancing pending bills in Parliament. Efforts are underway from the ruling coalition to prioritize legislative business during the session.

The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has even designated focal persons to ensure progress on bills under discussion in parliamentary committees.

The monsoon session of Parliament concluded on September 16. Opposition parties have since drawn the government’s attention to the delay in convening the next session.
