Kathmandu, September 23
The government has registered 10 different bills in the federal parliament over the past seven days.
Three bills were registered on Tuesday alone: the Ramraja Prasad Singh Health Science Academy Bill, a bill to activate provisions of certain Nepal Acts, and a bill to amend certain Nepal Acts related to women, children, gender and sexual minorities, and social security.
Before that, five bills were registered on September 21: the Diploma Engineering Council Bill, the National Defence University Bill, and the bill on the security of health workers and health institutions (second amendment).
The Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights (first amendment) Bill and the bill on breast-milk substitutes (sale and distribution control) (first amendment) were also registered.
On September 18, the bill on free legal aid was registered, and on September 17, the Solid Waste Management Bill was registered.
According to Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam, the government is moving to speed up the lawmaking process.
She said, “This year we aim to enact 166 laws, and more than 40 have already been registered so far.”
