Schools in provinces 1, 5, 7 shut down for polls from Sunday

Kathmandu, June 25

All private and government schools and colleges in provinces 1, 5 and 7 have been shut down from Sunday for the second phase of local level elections scheduled for Wednesday.

The schools and colleges have been closed following the Election Commission’s request as many academic institutions will be used as voting centres whereas teachers of government schools will be mobilised in election activities.

Meanwhile, the government will give public holiday on the voting day in these provinces so as to allow everyone to vote.

As many as 35 districts of these provinces will hold local polls on Wednesday. The polls in provinces 3, 4 and 6 have already been over whereas Province 2 will hold the polls on September 18.
