Design and display

Redmi Note 11S

Redmi Note 11S offers a fresh design compared to its predecessor Redmi Note 10S which was released last year. The latest release flaunts the trendy flat back providing a different aesthetic from the regular backs seen in almost every Redmi Note series. The phone has a plastic build with a flat frame that ensures a better grip. The matte finish on the back not only displays an elegant look but also prevents fingerprints all over the phone.

The phone weighs around 179 grams and is 8.09mm in thickness. The phone comes with IP53 dust and splash-resistant certification. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone which also works as the power button. Redmi Note 11S comes in graphite, grey, pearl white and twilight blue colours.

On the front is a 6.43-inch centre punch hole AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels. The display on this phone supports a 90Hz refresh rate instead of the 60Hz seen on the previous-generation smartphone. It can also achieve a peak brightness of up to 1000 nits. This phone too features DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, sunlight display and Reading mode 3.0 helping the users to operate the phone comfortably under any condition.

Cameras

Redmi Note 11S has a quad-camera setup on the back while it has a single camera on the front housed inside the centre punch-hole display. The camera module also gets a makeover on this phone. The main camera on this phone features a 108MP sensor accompanied by an 8MP, 188 degrees FOV ultrawide and a couple of 2MP depth and macro lenses. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie shooter.

This is an upgraded feature from last year. The 108MP main camera should capture higher resolution photos and provide better photography, but it is not the same for videos. The video recording on the main camera on this phone too is limited to 1080p resolution only just like Note 11 Pro 5G while its predecessor had the option to record 4K resolution videos.

It is really surprising to see downgrades in the latest release instead of upgrades on the existing features. This is something impossible to ignore.

Performance and storage

Redmi Note 11S runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 11. The phone is powered by Mediatek Helio G96 (12nm) chipset while the graphical duties are handled by Mali-G57 MC2. Xiaomi chose a 12 nm Mediatek chipset here while it offers a 6nm Snapdragon chipset on the other two smartphones of the same lineup.

This phone also offers liquid cool technology as seen on the Note 11 Pro 5G. This helps to cool the display during intensive gaming or when the device is used for a long span of time.

As for the storage option, Redmi Note 11S comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM onboard. Both variants have 128GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 1TB with a microSD card and there is a dedicated slot for the card.

Battery life, connectivity and others

Redmi Note 11S features a 5000mAh, non-removable li-po battery. The company claims the power on the battery can provide users with 16 hours of video streaming, 33 hours of calling and 138 hours of music. The battery gets charged from a 33W Pro fast charger. Xiaomi says this is a 26% faster-charging improvement over the 33W fast charger.

As for the connectivity, the phone supports dual 4G networks and dual-band wifi. The phone also features Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C 2.0 for the phone to get connected to other devices. For audio, there is a dual stereo speaker on the phone and also a 3.5mm headphone jack for your wired headsets.

Redmi Note 11S is priced at Rs 29,999 for 6/128GB and Rs 31,999 for 8/128GB.
