Kathmandu, January 10
Controversial ascetic Ram Bahadur Bomjan was arrested in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Bamjan, also known as Buddha Boy, was arrested from Budhanilkantha. He has been on the run from the police since 2020.
Ram Bahadur Bomjan has been accused of raping an 18-year-old nun and making some of his followers disappear. Police have failed to nab him several times.
The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Bomjan based on a tip-off. DIG Kuber Kadayat said he tried to escape by jumping off the roof of the house he was in.
Police say that he has been in Kathmandu for over two months and has confiscated over Rs 30 million from the residence where he was staying.
He is being taken to Sarlahi District Court.
