The Tanahun District Court on Thursday decided to remand actor Paul Shah, who is facing a charge of raping a minor in the district, in judicial custody until the final verdict in the case.

The court, however, ordered the police to release his manager Krishna Joshi on a bail of Rs 100,000.

The district court’s official Min Bahadur Kunwar says a single bench of Judge Hari Chandra Dhungana ordered for Shah’s remand until the final verdict, suggesting there was a chance of destruction of evidence if he was sent out. However, Joshi, charged as Shah’s accomplice, has been released.

In his order, Judge Dhungana says it is highly likely that Paul Shah committed the crime, based on his own statements about the statement, the alleged survivor’s medical checkup.

In his statement, reportedly, Shah denied raping the child but admitted visiting her room at midnight under the influence of alcohol. The judge, in his order, reads Shah, hence, has failed to justify his move.

With the order, Paul Shah cannot be released even if the Nawalpur District Court, which is also hearing a similar case, orders for his release. He, however, is allowed to file an appeal at the high court.
