Kathmandu, July 9
Protesting the government decision to backtrack on its earlier decision to impose a pesticide residue test on the imports of vegetables and fruits from India, the student wing of main opposition Nepali Congress sent a basket of ‘pesticide-laced’ items to Prime Minister Oli.
Leaders and cadres of Nepal Students Union gathered at the Kathmandu District Administration Office on Tuesday afternoon and handed over the basket tagged ‘pesticide-laced vegetables and fruits’ to the DAO officials to forward it to the PM, according to Sushil Bhatta, a participant of the protest.
The Union says it is a part of phase-protest programme announced against the government’s withdrawal from the decision; and its leaders and cadres sent the similar items to the PM from other districts as well.
The organisation says the protest will continue for a next few days.
