New finance minister’s first decision: Rs 5 billion allocated for Covid-19 vaccines

Newly-appointed Finance Minister Janardan Sharma assumed his office at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. On the occasion, he also decided to allocate Rs 5 billion for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines.

The CPN-Maoist Centre leader was appointed to the position on Tuesday.

The ministry’s spokesperson Mahesh Acharya says Sharma approved four proposals forwarded by the ministry officials, and the first was the budget for the vaccine purchase.

Likewise, the minister also decided to allocate Rs 961.2 million for the payment for the purchase of ICU and HDU machinery and ventilators for various hospitals. Likewise, he also decided to release Rs 524.6 million for various provincial and local hospitals as approved already.
