Kathmandu, October 18

Newly appointed Minister for Energy Kamal Thapa says he will continue efforts carried out by the government in a bid to end load shedding in the country.

Assuming his office at the ministry today, Deputy Prime Minister Thapa said he would effectively carry out efforts for ending power outage though the election code of conduct bars him from launching new programmes.

Currently, industries at different industrial districts are operating with daily three-hour outage and the Nepal Electricity Authority says it is working to end the situation.

In another context, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman said the government was committed to holding provincial and federal parliamentary elections on time and the polls would not be postponed.

He said his party decided to join the government just to ensure the timely polls.
