Nepali podcaster wins leadership award in New York

New York, November 7

A Nepali student has been honoured with the 2019 LCU Fund’s President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership in New York City. The LCU Fund for Women’s Education awarded Dipika Shrestha, a student at Baruch College’s Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, for her role in helping immigrant communities through her podcast.

Shrestha has been producing a weekly podcast ‘ At The End Of The Day’ with her husband, for more than a year in New York City.  As per Shrestha, their podcast is a guide for recently arriving immigrants in the United States.

“In the podcast, we profile individuals from diverse immigrant communities and talk to them about their career transition process in the US,” she said. “Our guests share their experiences about the challenges they faced and the actions they took to overcome those challenges.”

“Our main objective is to motivate newly arriving immigrants to pursue their dream career in the US,” she added.

Shrestha, who used to work for BBC Media Action in Nepal, is currently pursuing her Master of International Affairs in New York City. Her podcast can be watched on YouTube, and listened on iTunes, Spotify and other platforms.
