Nepali Congress youth leader held for fraud

Kathmandu, July 10

Police have arrested Nepali Congress youth leader Rishikesh Jang Shah on the charge of swindling various persons of around Rs 20 million.

Shah is a former Vice-President of the party’s student wing, Nepal Students Union.

The court has remanded him to custody for 15 days, according to SSP Prakash Jang Karki of the Metropolitan Crime Division.

Karki says Shah collected Rs 19.7 million from various persons assuring them to send to the United States or Japan before going out of contact.

Three others were also arrested along with Shah last week.

Some youth from Shah’s home district, Salyan, had filed complaints with police against the leader.
