Kathmandu, March 31
The 2625th birth anniversary of Mahavir Jain, the founder of Jainism, is being marked today across the country. Mahavir Jain, born in Bhaishali of India, had practised the highest form of restraint and non-violence.
The birth anniversary of Mahavir is marked by the Jain Community on the day of Chaitra Shukla Triyodashi every year with various programmes by followers of the Jain religion from all over the world, including in Nepal.
Mahavir formulated five paths of salvation- truth, non-violence, celibacy, infallibility and non-aggression, and he himself also followed these principles. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated with enthusiasm every year in Nepal by Vedic, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh and other communities.
