Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara says the Federal Parliament will have its own building within next two years.

Currently, both houses of central Parliament–House of Representatives and National Assembly–have been using the building of International Convention Centre in Naya Baneshwor on rent.

But, Mahara says the new Parliament building will be constructed at Putali Bagaincha of Singhadarbar. Currently, there is a military barrack, but it will soon be shifted to another location behind the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to the Speaker.

He claims preparatory works for the construction have already begun.

Meanwhile, talking to a team of parliamentary journalists today, Mahara said he already quit all roles in the CPN-Maoist Centre after being elected the Speaker last month.

He also assured needful support to parliamentary journalists.
