Home Minister calls for people’s support to maintain peace in Kathmandu

Janardan Sharma

Kathmandu, August 4

Home Minister Janardan Sharma says he is committed to getting rid of all misconducts and ill practices in Kathmandu so as to maintain peace and order, but people’s support is a must for that.

He says each neighbourhood in the city can develop its own voluntary group for security of the area in order to support police and administration.

Speaking at a function organised by Community Service Centre and Community Police Service Centre in Lainchaur of Kathmandu today, Sharma said, “Solving problems of the city is everyone’s responsibility. The administration will lead the process, but Kathmandu will be clean if citizens also cooperate with us.”

Meanwhile, the Minister also called members of the public to report incidents of violation of laws to police so that the government could rightly implement the laws.

“Aware citizens are foundations of security. Police alone can do nothing without citizens’ support.”

He also appreciated the role of community police in implementing peace and order of the city.
