Government to collect online applications for embossed number plates from Friday

The government is collecting online applications for embossed number plates of vehicles from this Friday.

The hi-technology system was launched in Nepal on Monday.

In the first phase, the applications will be collected from vehicles of Bagmati zone.

The Department of Transport Management has put the application form on its website and the service seekers can submit the applications online.

DoTM Director General Rup Narayan Bhattarai says the applicants will be informed online when they shall visit the Transport Management Office to receive the number plates.

The Department will charge Rs 2,500 to install these new machine-readable plates on any two-wheeler whereas installing it on a light and heavy four-wheeler will cost Rs 3,200 and Rs 3,600 respectively.

Likewise, owners of three-wheelers have to pay Rs 2,900.

An embossed number plate expires every 10 years.

The Department says five colours of plate and text will be used to differentiate among government vehicles, private vehicles and vehicles of diplomatic agencies.

A distinct number plate will be installed on the vehicle of President.
