Enhanced security with extended CCTV storage at Tribhuvan Airport

The administration of Tribhuvan International Airport has clarified that the storage capacity of CCTV cameras at the international airport has been increased up to 61 days. Previously, there were reports that CCTV footage at the airport had not been retained for more than 21 days.

The office admitted that 500 CCTV cameras are installed inside the airport and some of them have storage for only 21 days, which has been extended to 61 days now.

According to the General manager of the airport, Pratap Babu Tiwari, 36 hard disks of 16 TB capacity have been installed in the CCTV cameras. He said that on October 14, the meeting of the stakeholders was held and the work was taken forward.

Even though the airport administration has done the work of connecting the CCTV inside the airport, the operation and surveillance work is being done by the Nepal Police, the airport administration has also said. Tiwari said, “More than 170 agencies are working inside the airport premises.”
