Kathmandu, June 6

In his last address to Parliament as the Prime Minister this time, the CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said his government was successful in achieving its objectives.

Dahal also defended the constitution amendment bill, currently stuck at the House, claiming it was brought to bring all agitating forces on board the elections at local, provincial and federal levels.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Prime Minister reiterated that he announced resignation between two phases of the local level elections as he was honest to the agreement made with the Nepali Congress before his election to the PM last year.

Dahal also informed that he postponed the second phase of elections in order to ensure the participation of agitating Madhesh-centric parties in the polls.

The Maoist leader criticised the main opposition party, CPN-UML, of obstructing the Parliament meeting for days taking the dispute of Bharatpur vote counting dispute as the issue was related to the Election Commission and it just delayed the PM’s election.

He said he was committed to national economic development in collaboration with all political parties.

Dahal shared his happiness that he left the office while both ruling and opposition parties were asking him not to quit.

‘Not involved in Bharatpur fracas’

Dahal claimed that his party was honest to the process of democratisation and said his party was not involved in tearing ballot papers in Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan district.

He also denied the charge that he put undue pressure on the Election Commission to decide for repolling in ward 19 of the city.
