Kathmandu, September 4
Goods imported through the Mustang Customs Office can now be cleared at the Chobhar Dry Port Customs Office in Kathmandu.
For this purpose, the Department of Customs has designated specific road routes. As a result, goods entering Nepal through the Korala border point in Mustang can now be transported directly to Kathmandu for customs clearance without being cleared at the customs office in Mustang.
According to the department, the decision to allow inland transportation has been made until further notice, provided that all conditions, procedures and other requirements stipulated by the Customs Regulations are complied with.
For cargo vehicles, the designated route for vehicles entering through the Korala border point is Nechung–Chhusang–Kagbeni–Jomsom–Beni–Kushma–Pokhara–Damauli–Muglin–Kurinatar–Naubise–Kalanki–Chobhar Dry Port Customs Office.
If problems arise along this route, vehicles will be allowed to take an alternative route via Muglin–Narayanghat–Hetauda–Bhaise–Naubise–Kalanki–Chobhar to reach the dry port.
For new vehicles being driven into the country, the route via Hetauda has been designated for the time being.
Following the devastating floods that destroyed much of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing, the Korala border point in Mustang is currently being used as an alternative entry point.
