Current govt, police leadership are targeting me; can’t cooperate for probe: Nawa Raj Silwal

Kathmandu, January 25

Former Nepal Police DIG and now an elected member of Parliament, Nawa Raj Silwal, says the current government and leadership of Nepal Police are trying to ‘claim his life’.

Whereas the national police organisation has reportedly issued a circular across the country and written to the international police organisation, Interpol, to arrest him after failing to find him anywhere, Silwal says he will not cooperate with the current government for the investigation of charges filed against him.

For him, the current government cannot probe the case fairly as he had fought against the same government and police leaderships earlier.

Silwal, who had made repeated legal attempts to become the Nepal Police Inspector General last year, has now been accused of forging his performance appraisal papers while submitting evidence at the Supreme Court.

He is absconding since police began a search after him. But, Silwal issued a statement today, informing he will extend his support to the probe once the new government is formed. It is very likely that the new government will be led by the CPN-UML, which the former cop official is affiliated to currently.

Denying forgery charge, he says the current government is rewarding the officials involved in such criminal cases.
