Kathmandu, August 31
Nepal Police has urged people not to eat fish or other food products taken from the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers following the devastating floods in Rasuwa.
Police said floodwaters carried bodies, dead animals, waste and other contaminated materials into the rivers, potentially introducing harmful pathogens into the water.
People have also been advised not to drink water from the two rivers.
Police have asked residents living along the Bhote Koshi and surrounding riverbanks not to catch fish or collect other river products for consumption or take them home.
The consumption of contaminated water and food could increase the risk of diseases including cholera, diarrhoea and skin infections, police said.
