The closed-door session under the first national assembly of Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Revolutionary Maoist has been halted as the party leaders expressed different opinions over ‘using’ upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections.
The leaders are divided over whether to boycott or use the polls; and if they are using the polls, what will be the model.
Whereas Baidya wants to boycott the elections, his deputy CP Gajurel wants to contest the polls in the name of Deshbhakta Janaganatantrik Morcha under his leadership.
Meanwhile, Baidya has criticised Gajurel for speaking about the party’s participation in polls without holding sufficient discussions in the party.
In this context, the closed-door session scheduled for today has been postponed. It was scheduled to hold discussions on changing the party’s name and organisational structure, among others.
