CP Gajurel released

Maoist leader CP Gajurel after being released from police custody, in Kathmandu, on Monday, December 30, 2019.

Kathmandu, December 30

Police have released CP Gajurel, the vice-chairman of Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Revolutionary Maoist, among 15 cadres of the party on Monday.

They were arrested while heading towards Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel’s office in Singhadarbar on Sunday afternoon. They were kept in custody at Nepal Police Club.

After the release, Gajurel told media that the arrest was premeditated and it showed that the government was heading towards fascism.

“The government took us under control while we were heading to tell them that the border has been encroached on and it has to be resolved,” he said.

Gajurel said police handed over him and his cadres a warrant that said they were arrested for acting against public interest and morality.
