Prohibitory order in Kathmandu valley should last until Dashain: Lalitpur CDO

Kathmandu, September 6

Lalitpur’s Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhatta says the three district administration offices of Kathmandu valley should extend the prohibitory order in the valley up to Dashain.

The 15-day festival that most of the Nepalis celebrate every year begins on October 17 this year.

In their bid to control the coronavirus spread in the city, the CDOs have implemented the order since August 19. With its second extension, the order is scheduled to last until Wednesday this week.

Speaking in a meeting organised by a subcommittee under the Education Committee in the House of Representatives on Sunday, Bhatta, however, maintained the local authorities should gradually make the order more flexible in the upcoming days.

He argued the rate of infection would have been higher than the current one if there had not been the prohibitory order on the eve of Teej, a major festival of Nepali women.
