A US doctor who survived the 2015 Nepal Earthquake and the subsequent avalanche on Everest has died while trying to scale the highest mountain in the world, this morning.

Expedition organiser Murari Sharma of Everest Parivar Treks told Onlinekhabar that Roland Yearwood’s Sherpa guide was yet to reach Base Camp and details are yet to emerge.

Yearwood, 51, is a physician based at the Georgiana Georgiana Medical Center in Alabama, USA.

According to al.com, Yearwood was attempting to climb Everest for the first time in April 2015, with a guided group from SummitClimb when the earthquake rattled the Himalayas. His group was rescued by a helicopter.

Roland is the third person to die on the mountain this spring season. The other two who have perished on Everest are Ueli Steck (41) aka Swiss Machine and 80-year-old Nepali climber Min Bahadur Serchan who was trying to win back the record he set as the oldest man to scale Everest.
