File: CK Raut

Kathmandu, March 29

Two years after joining mainstream politics after signing a peace deal with the government, CK Raut, the chief of the Janamat Party.

For a few years, Raut had led an underground movement calling for the recognition of Madhes as a separate state, but in March 2019, the government had been successful in convincing the party to end that and come into peaceful politics.

However, the Nawalparasi District Court summoned Chandra Kanta (CK) Raut in connection with a crime against the state charge against him. Raut has been told to be present before the court within the next 35 days.

A single bench of Judge Dhruva Kumar Shah had issued the summons on March 5.

Along with Raut, Krishna Yadav and Kailash Mahato have also been made defendants in this case.
