Kathmandu, February 13
China has congratulated Nepal for successfully holding various elections including those for local level governments, provincial assemblies, the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
Responding to a journalist’s query at a regular press meeting in Beijing on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang said, “China congratulates Nepal on its successful parliamentary elections at all levels.”
The official added, “We respect the Nepali people’s choice and sincerely hope that various parties of Nepal will continue to work together with solidarity and advance smoothly the formation of a new government so as to realise political stability and economic development of the country.”
Though the journalist specifically mentioned the victory of left alliance and sought his comment on it, the spokesperson chose not to mention anything about the alliance and its victory.
